Materials
The material we use to cast new pipes is a polyester-based plastic. Products have been manufactured from polyester since the 1950’s, and it is a commonly used construction material in such products as recreational boats, small ships, sports car bodies, blades for wind turbines and many more. Polyester plastic has good resistance to solvents and acids.
What’s special about the plastic that Proline uses to cast its pipes is that it is styrene-free and reinforced with glass flakes that make the new pipes strong and with high durability against mechanical wear. The advantage to using styrene-free plastic is that it gives off considerably less odor upon plastic setting than styrene-based polyester, which is absolutely necessary for use inside an apartment. This polyester also provides very good protection against corrosion. The same material is used on oil platforms as an excellent protective measure
